Today we got up early to get picked up for our scuba liveaboard adventure on the Great Barrier Reef. We’re both super excited and a bit nervous to be diving without a dive guide. They started by taking us to a day diving boat to do our first two dives of the day.
Dive 1 – Clippers
This was a nice first dive, Jacob and I took our time and got use to diving without a guide. My regulator had issues and was hard to breathe out of and I needed to switch to my backup.
Dive 2 – Troppos
This was a nice dive but there wasn’t much to see other than a turtle a too far away. During the surface interval they changed out my regulator, unfortunately they changed it out for a leaky one.
After the second dive we had lunch and hung out until the day boat met with the main live aboard Ocean Quest. We transferred to the Ocean Quest and got settled in our room.
Dive 3 – Coral Garden
Good dive but again not much to see and I somehow got yet another regulator that was leaking 😞.
Dive 4 – Floro Night Dive at Coral Garden
I was feeling tired but decided to do this dive because the dive master said the snorkel with sharks would be crowded. It was a cool dive, we dove with UV flashlights and looked at the coral.
After the last dive we had dinner and two beers. I was exhausted and fell straight asleep. In the middle of the night I had some hip pain that I thought was a bad dream, cause when I woke up I didn’t have any pain.
