Today we got up early to go on a manta ray snorkeling and Nusa Penida Island tour. We got picked up at our hotel and went straight to the pier get on the boat to the island.
Unfortunately we got to the area where the manta rays usually are and there were no manta rays 😖. But there was a lot of garbage in the water and it was super uncomfortable swimming around in it.
After we did a couple more snorkels at different places all very full of trash with not much to see. It was starting to feel like the trip was a bit of a bust. We then got off the boat and started the land part of the tour. They took us to a very beautiful day resort with a great view. We had a nice swim and relaxed in the cliff side pool for a couple hours.
After the day resort we made our way to Kelingking Beach. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to walk down to the beach but enjoyed the view.
We then got back in the boat for a couple more snorkels that were a bit better than before with no garbage. And we saw a turtle which was nice.
We then headed back to our hotel and got refreshed before searching for speakeasies. Our first stop was Manina, it made some good cocktail but nothing to special.
Then we wandered to the Shady Flamingo where we had a most excellent night. The owner happened to stop by the bar while we were there and he made us special cocktails into the wee hours of the night.
