It rained heavily and caused our white water rafting trip to be canceled 😞. So we booked a package at the local adventure place. 4wd buggies and learning to shoot clays. The buggy was a nice drive up into the hills and we got a great view of Rotorua.
The guide took a cool shot of us out in the bush as well.
After the buggy ride we learned to shoot at clays and it turns out Jacob is a natural and hit everyone, but I am a faster shot. He started hitting the clays right away but when we competed to shoot the same one I always got it first.
We then made our way to Hell’s Gate geothermal reserve and spa. We started our experience by going on a 40-ish minute walk around the geothermal reserve which had many signs reminding us how hot and dangerous the area was.
After our walk we checked into the spa for our mud bath. We both have some mixed feeling about the bath largely because it smelled terrible and was clear out swimsuits would never smell good again. Both of us felt a lot better once we showered off and got into the cold plunge pool.
After the spa we hit the road and made our way to Taupo so we could do the Tongariro crossing. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to do the rafting before our scheduled forces us to leave the area.
When we got to Taupo we got started on laundry and relaxed for a bit. Unfortunately we didn’t realize everything closed early in the area. So after walking to a place for dinner and finding out only the bar was open we walked back to our hotel and made a “charcuterie” plate with only the best lunch meat and sliced cheese.
