Today is my birthday 🥳. We got up late and went to get lunch. We found a nice burger spot that had chili fries and chicken burgers.
Then we made our way to the Weta Workshop, to see the behind the scene of their movie magic. The tour was a nice little tour of their office but they didn’t allow many photos.
After the tour, we started my birthday speakeasy crawl. Our first stop was bar Ascot. Nice bar with good cocktails, but not an extensive or unique cocktail menu so we had 2 cocktails there and headed out.
After we wandered to Havana Bar where we had some great drinks (so many rum based drinks!, my favorite) and baked brie. The drinks were interesting and they had a long and interesting cocktail list.
We then headed to Mr. Go’s to meet up with the guides from our canoe trip (Danielle and Wilson). They happened to be in Wellington for Wilson’s birthday and they were really fun to hang with. We had a bunch of shared plates and lots of creative looking drinks in very cute glassware.
After dinner we checked out several other bars that all blur together except for one where we sat in an old camper trailer. We finally called it a night around 2am. It was overall a great birthday.
