Today is New Year’s Eve and we hike around 13 miles from Awaroa Bay to Torrent Bay.
The hike is broke into 3, 2-ish hour segments of hiking between the different bays along the trail. After the 3-ish hours we arrived at Bark Bay to have lunch and go for a swim. We had to dodge birds trying to grab our lunch from our hands but eventually found a spot to eat lunch in peace.
After the lunch and a swim we made our way to the Torrent Bay Lodge.
We got to the Lodge around 2:30pm and went for a quick swim to cool off. We got cleaned up, took a bit of a nap and then joined the other hikers for drinks and snacks. We were hoping for fireworks around mid-night but the wind picked up and we all celebrated the New Year’s with wine at midnight.
