We got up reasonably early and got picked up at our hotel for another bike the wineries tour. This time we are biking the Blenheim/Marlborough area.
They took us to the winery village and got us geared up for the ride with helmets, reflective jackets, and maps. We were then quickly on our way to our first stop at Forest Winery.
After having a cheese board, tasting 7 wines, and buying a bottle, we were off again to the next winery, Framingham. The service was very slow at this winery and we spent a bit too much time at this winery. The wines were okay, we didn’t buy a bootle here, but the music and the vibe of the winery was cool.
Next up was a small couple owned winery, Gibson Bridge Winery. They focused on Pinot Gris and some small lots of Gewürtztraminer and Pinot Noir. The wine was good and we bought 2 bottles. Jacob also left his backpack here, but luckily the bike company drives by and picks up the wine and grabbed his backpack.
After Gibson we tried to go to a couple other wineries, only to find their tastings fully booked or the winery closed. We finally ended up at Allan Scott Winery for lunch and a tasting. The tasting was more freeform and you could taste the wines using a machine that dispensed the wine.
After our late lunch we had time for one more stop, so we went to Nautilus Winery. We tasted 8 more wines here and bought our 4th bottle. We started to worry we might not be able to finish all the wine before we left New Zealand.
We then rode back to the bike drop off spot and picked up the backpack and wine. Once all the other bikers arrived back we got in the van back to our hotel.
